Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, ca. 3500 to 1500 BCE. A beautifully constructed pottery female figure known as a Venus that presents nude with delineated thighs flanking an impressed pubis. Her broad hips and slender waist imbue her with a sense of femininity along with perky breasts and a grooved clavicle beneath her neck. Minimalist features incised across the face include slit-form eyes, sweeping brows, and a petite mouth, all framed within the bangs of a lightly incised coiffure. Her lower body is accentuated with red-brown slip that adds a pop of color to the otherwise tan composition. Size: 1.5" W x 3.125" H (3.8 cm x 7.9 cm); 4.3" H (10.9 cm) on included custom stand.
