Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely mold-made terracotta oil lamp with a concentric ring base with a planta pedis (maker's mark) signed "KA," sloping walls, ovalo-variant shoulders with a raised feathery motif, and a protruding wick spout. The recessed tondo displays a highly-stylized image of Cupid (or Eros in Greek), the Roman embodiment of passion and desire. He is nude, with a turned head and outstretched wings, and stands with his genitalia flanking a small fill hole. Though the handle is missing, this is a fantastic example of Roman-era craftsmanship! Size: 3.25" L (8.3 cm).
