Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A lovely brass ring featuring a fine engraving of the head of a woman facing right. Wearing her hair pulled back in a low bun, the ancient profile displays a naturalistic eye, a strong nose, full lips, and a defined chin. A lone string of beads or pearls adorns the base of her neck. The exterior of the ring is smooth, and the band gently narrows opposite the face. The petite scale of this adornment suggests that it may have been intended to be worn by a child. Size (ring): 0.75" L x 0.625" W (1.9 cm x 1.6 cm); Size (face): 0.5" in diameter (1.3 cm)
