Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A lovely leaded bronze ring presenting a thick band and a circular face with the incised image of a crab. The ancient anthropoid displays a triangular body surrounded by 8 legs as a pair of large claws extend from his front. Note the artist's careful attention to detail, which is evident in the petite striations that envelope the entirety of the creature. Size (ring): 0.75" in diameter (1.9 cm); Size (face with crab): 0.5" W (1.3 cm); US ring size: 6.25
