Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Iron Age, Cypro-Archaic Phase, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A miniature wheel-thrown amphoriskos of the black-on-red variety with a petite footed base, a bulbous body, a wide tubular neck, an out-folded rim, and a pair of arching strap handles. A single black-painted stripe adorns the transitional area from body to neck, and five similar stripes accentuate the midpoint of the body. A rare example to find! Size: 2.375" W x 2" H (6 cm x 5.1 cm).

  • Condition: Vessel repaired from multiple pieces with some new material and light adhesive residue along break lines. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small nicks to rim, handles, and foot, and fading to some areas of pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory sticker on base.
