Description:

England, Medieval period, 12th to 14th century. Very rare dagger made of iron blade and tang with wood grip and bronze cross-grip / quillon and rosette pommel. Just the perfect size for hiding in your cloak and using at the most opportune time. Blade of triangular construction sharpened on one side and blunt on the other with long thin tang housed in its original wooden handle and a very typical early medieval quillon of twin flaring extensions and third flattened thumb guard. Found in the London Borough of Hillington before 1996. So rare to find a knife like this with all of its original components and a known find site! Size: 2.5" W x 13" H (6.4 cm x 33 cm); 15" H (38.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: Private Fort Collins, Colorado USA collection acquired in London. Ex London collection found before 1996 in northwestern London
