Description:

Europe, probably Germany, Medieval, ca. 12th to 15th century CE. A striking iron-welded axe of exquisite form with a long curved blade, tapered at the top and square base, that slants slightly inward attached to a cylindrical socket with a small weight on the back for balance and a short thick cylindrical handle of yellowish-tan wood. The elegantly long blade is slanted near its periphery on one side, creating a razor-sharp edge. Enveloped in a hue of dark grey with lustrous silver highlights and accents of deep burnt sienna patina, this intimidating tool is historical evidence that looks can kill! Size: 7.75" W x 23" H (19.7 cm x 58.4 cm)
