From the ancient Tumaco / La Tolita cultures of Ecuador/Colombia, ca 300 BCE - 300 CE. Near-miniature in size, measuring ~3" tall x ~2 1/2" deep. It depicts a seated or crouching individual, wearing a cargo sack on their back, which doubles as a small container- perhaps for holding snuff or a votive offering. Provenance: Former Columbia, South Carolina, USA private collection. All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. The starting price is the lowest price at which the lot can sell.

  • Condition: Minor abrasions, weathering, wear, chipping and loss overall. There is ancient loss to the bases of the front feet, and the back leg has been broken off at the base and re-glued into place. Glue residue remains on the base of the front feet, remnants from where it was once glued to a display block.
