Description:

Pre-Columbian, Belize, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A set of 3 hand-knapped chert daggers, each with thick handles and sturdy blades bearing sharpened edges and points. This type of knife was likely ceremonial rather than utilitarian. They have been found at several archaeological sites throughout southern Mesoamerica and the Caribbean in funerary or ritualistic deposits. Size of largest: 11.7" L x 2.25" W (29.7 cm x 5.7 cm)
