Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery cylinder vessel bearing smooth, stone-burnished surfaces as well as orange and cream hues. The body is decorated with 3 distinct registers - an abstract avian band beneath the rim, a wide panel with large X-forms incised on each side, and a program of abstract clouds or waves on the bottom. Size: 5.6" Diameter x 8.25" H (14.2 cm x 21 cm)

  • Condition: Repairs to rim in a couple of areas, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Light abrasions, spalls, and nicks commensurate with age, with fading to pigment in some areas, and earthen deposits throughout the interior, otherwise in great condition. Nice surface smoothness on exterior, and decorations are still clear.
