Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 BCE to 125 CE. A round-bottomed polychrome bowl, the interior decorated with a symbol resembling our modern-day stylized depiction of a heart (but more likely representing a seed or a flower bud) in saturated brick red hues with chocolate brown arching seedling-like forms emerging or sprouting from the top center, against a white circular field that is outlined in chocolate brown and then surrounded by red walls that continue half-way down the exterior walls with a fine chocolate brown line highlighting the rim. Size: 6.375" in diameter x 2.625" H (16.2 cm x 6.7 cm)
