Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure standing atop thick feet, her flattened body slipped in a beige and orange-red hue. The face has a prominent nose with a septum ring, earrings, and headdress. Figures like this were placed into shaft tombs to protect and watch over the deceased, it is possible they represented ancestors or companions for the deceased. Size: 4.5" L x 1.75" W x 7.5" H (11.4 cm x 4.4 cm x 19 cm)
