Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An adorable, hand-built pottery gingerbread-type figure with a sturdy, corpulent composition. Her attenuated legs lead upwards to delineated female genitalia, a wide chest, conical arms, rounded shoulders, and a thick neck. Her elongated, triangular head lacks most facial features save for a prominent nose, faint incised eyes, perforated ears, and a brow-line. The ear perforations extend to the back of the head for additional ornamentation or for threading like a pendant. The surface is slipped in an orange red hue with lustrous burnishing. Size: 3.8" L x 2.9" W (9.7 cm x 7.4 cm)
