Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure standing atop delineated legs and dramatically arched feet. The woman presents nude with both arms held to her abdomen beneath perky breasts and wears shoulder pads, forearm cuffs, a 'beaded' necklace, and multiple rings in her septum and each ear. Her head bears slit-form eyes, tall ears, a bulbous nose, and a petite mouth, all beneath a conical cap and decorated with speckled red pigment. Size: 5.8" W x 10.4" H (14.7 cm x 26.4 cm)

  • Condition: Possible restoration to lower body below waist. Extensive but stable fissures on verso possibly as a result of a house fire, with nicks and abrasions to legs, body, arms, and head, and light fading to pigment. Nice preservation to overall form.
