Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A sizable pottery female figure of elderly age as indicated by her pendulous breasts, emaciated spinal column, and protruding jowls. Each ear is adorned with several hoop-form earrings, and her brow is adorned with a vertically-striped head band. She sits with a petite olla placed atop one leg bent beneath her skirt and supports her enormous head with her right hand as it rests atop her other bent knee. Size: 9" L x 6" W x 9.9" H (22.9 cm x 15.2 cm x 25.1 cm)
