Description:

Native American, North America, Central Plains (collected in San Diego, CA) ca. early 1800s. Native American burled wooden club. Burls present an intricately figured wood that is relished for its beauty and rarity by sculptors, furniture makers, and artists. Because of its interlocking grain and strong matter, burls were ideal for creating clubs. While collected in the San Diego area, the artifact may in fact derive from the Central Plains and arrived further West via trade. Shows good aging. 14"L.
