Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A sturdy copper axe head formed via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique with a cylindrical socketing shaft adorned with a quartet of narrow ringlets. Both the vertical front head and horizontal back head have sharpened, crescent-shaped blades with protruding corners, and the entire axe is enveloped in fine layers of brown and green patina. Size: 6.75" L x 2.625" W (17.1 cm x 6.7 cm)
