Native American, North America, Spencer County Illinois; Butler County, Ohio; St. Louis County, Missouri; Macoupin County, Illinois; Minnesota - Hopewell peoples, ca. 100 BCE to 400 CE. A collection of 6 knapped stone tools of a variety of shapes and sizes. The largest is a mottled grey and brown stone with a rough texture. The others are a glossy chert stone with hues of grey, cream, and light sienna. These stone tools were made by striking, or flaking off the edges with larger stones until there were relatively sharp and pointed. These may have been used for a variety of purposes - i.e. scraping tools for cleaning hide or digging tools for agriculture. A fine collection of Native American stone tools. Size of largest: 7" L x 2.1" W (17.8 cm x 5.3 cm); size of smallest: 2.375" L x .75" W (6 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
