Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero, Mezcala culture, ca. 400 to 100 BCE. A wonderful group of carved stone items from the Guerrero-Mezcala peoples. Two standing anthropomorphic figures have been hand-carved from a mottled greenstone, and have clearly delineated heads, arms, and legs formed using the string-cut technique; the taller figure has a biconically-drilled suspension hole on its right arm. A carved greenstone celt has a wide butt-end which gently flares and narrows to an acutely-angled cutting edge. Last is a polished string-cut maskette with mottled gray and black inclusions, with a stylized open mouth, wide brow with a biconically-drilled suspension hole, and drilled eyes. A great ensemble for any ancient aficionado! Size of largest item: Size: 4" H (10.2 cm).
