Pre-Columbian, Colombia, San Agustin, Horqueta-Primavera Period, ca. 600 BCE to 100 CE. A charming brownware vessel with a carinated body on a rounded base and a flared rim. The shoulder and rim of the piece are decorated with abstract anthropomorphic figures in relief, the rim with additional beaded or bubbled patterns. The San Agustin culture contains a UNESCO World Heritage site with a huge complex of pre-Columbian stone monuments and tombs, burial mounds, agricultural terraces, and associated archaeological items including ceramics like this one. Size: 9.125" in diameter x 7.375" H (23.2 cm x 18.7 cm)
