Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A fine gathering of three mold-formed blackware pottery vessels of varying sizes. The shortest vessel has a rounded base, an ovoid body with stippled panels depicting seashells and an abstract simian, and a curved handle behind a cylindrical neck. Second is a stirrup vessel with an arching handle, a narrow spout, and an abstract feline shown in relief on the obverse. The largest stirrup vessel has a wide body with a carinated midsection, a rounded shoulder with four stippled panels, and a petite avian figure opposite the wide handle. Size of largest (stippled shoulders): 5.75" W x 7.7" H (14.6 cm x 19.6 cm).
