Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Two small terracotta puppy figures, each standing upon four nubbin-shaped legs. The light-orange puppy is hollow-cast with a hole in the center of its head and has perky ears, a short tail, and slit-shaped eyes and mouth. The second blackware vessel has an upturned head, a curved tail, a large rim with a wide mouth, and a fifth "leg" in the center of its crescent-shaped back for stabilization. An adorable duo from this ancient shaft-tomb culture! Size of largest (light-orange): 4.75" L (12.1 cm).

Provenance: private Stagecoach, Nevada, USA collection; acquired from 1985 to present from galleries such as Arte Primitivo, Art For Eternity, Butterfields, and Riverbend Gallery
