Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An adorable hollow-molded and highly-burnished brownware pottery dog effigy vessel with expressive facial features, an upturned tail, a corpulent body, and an upturned rim atop the back. The perky, concave ears are surrounded by curving incised lines, with an upturned nose, coffee-bean-shaped eyes, and a wide grinning mouth completing the countenance. While most collectors are familiar with puppies coming from the Colima region, canines from Jalisco are relatively rare. Size: 7.25" L x 3.625" H (18.4 cm x 9.2 cm).
