Description:

**First Time At Auction**

East Asia, China, Warring States period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A large storage vessel of a globular form comprised of buff gray pottery with impressed designs covering the curved exterior walls and shoulders of the body which resolves to a short neck and rolled rim. A special example with a mesmerizing array of impressed decorative patterns from this very early historical era. This vessel would have been inspired by a similar bronze item used to store food, but, because it is made of ceramic, it would have been an inexpensive facsimile made to be placed in the grave. Size: 13.45" W x 16.25" H (34.2 cm x 41.3 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
