Description:

North America, southern United States, central Texas, ca. 19th century CE. A sizable basin formed from hammered copper sheets that was used at frontier campsites for cooking large meals and washing clothes, though thankfully not simultaneously. The deep vessel features a rounded base, tall walls that curl at the top to form the rim, and a pair of riveted handles on the sides. The vessel has formed attractive patina and exhibits thick layers of soot on the exterior from heavy use. Size: 22.2" W x 11" H (56.4 cm x 27.9 cm)
