Description:

North America, USA, ca. 1826 CE. A large, heavy, cast bronze bell, bearing the date 1826 low on one exterior side, with a cast iron yoke and cast iron clapper. The shape of the yoke suggests that this is a cupola bell, most likely from a schoolhouse or possibly a smaller church. The bell has a wonderful symmetrical form with thin pairs of raised bands around the lower and upper parts. The crown has an ornate four-sided form. The heavy iron pin of the yoke passes through the center of the crown. Size: 20.25" W x 24" H (51.4 cm x 61 cm)
