East Asia, Japan, Meiji period, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A lovely cloisonne vase of a petite form with panel scenes of flowers with a bird and butterfly. Glittering inlays from "chakin-seki" contrast beautifully with the cobalt sky around the butterfly. Chakin-seki or tea goldstone is created by mixing a reflective flecks into the enamel, such as copper and aventurine glass. Size: 2" W x 6.25" H (5.1 cm x 15.9 cm)

Provenance: private Arlington, Texas, USA collection, acquired mid to late-1960s
