Description:

**First Time At Auction**

West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. This is a redware cup with red slip vertical line paintings decorating its sides. Wear around the base suggests that it was held frequently. Jalisco ceramics were part of a long West Mexican tradition and many of them have been found in tombs; a piece like this, however, probably saw everyday household use. Size: 2.25" L x 2.25" W x 3.5" H (5.7 cm x 5.7 cm x 8.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
