Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. While most collectors of Pre-Columbian pottery are familiar with puppies coming from the Colima region, this adorable little canine hails from Jalisco. A sweet hollow-molded clay pup vessel, the dog standing at attention on all fours, its perky ears and virtually smiling expression conveying an eager attitude that any dog owner will easily recognize. The surface displays nice remains of red slip, liberal root marks, and white mineral deposits. Size: 3.875" L x 2.5" H (9.8 cm x 6.4 cm)

Provenance: Ex- Collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, CA
