Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of pottery items from one of west Mexico's shaft tomb cultures. The first is a miniature olla with a gourd-shaped body and long neck. Incised on the body are spiral, seashell-like designs. The figure appears to be a pregnant female, shown in a wonderful dynamic pose, kneeling with one knee up, one elbow resting on it. She holds a hand to her stomach and has a wide-eyed, open mouthed expression. Size of figure: 5.6" W x 7.85" H (14.2 cm x 19.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Harvey Collection, acquired prior to 1972
