Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima & Jalisco ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of pottery figures, the larger bichrome example from Jalisco, a seated male with hands held to chest, upraised knees, and dramatic open-mouthed expression on a classic oversized head, donning large ear ornaments and red pigment over areas; the smaller from neighboring Colima, another seated figure, with coffee-bean shaped eyes and mouth, "beaded" multi-strand necklace, armlet, and sash, holding a staff or instrument. Size: Jalisco 7.5" H (19 cm) & Colima 4" H (10.2 cm)
