Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A flat terracotta figure of a woman, probably pregnant given her swollen lower belly and enormous breasts, presenting a characteristically-stylized visage, her person highly decorated with an applied necklace, ear spools, and an elaborate headdress. Her attenuated arms and legs serve to emphasize her comparatively enlarged abdominal features, and bright red-orange pigment decorates the exterior of her face. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 2.75" W x 4.5" H (7 cm x 11.4 cm); 4.75" H (12.1 cm) on included custom stand.
