East Asia, China, later Qing Dynasty, ca. mid-19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful amulet, hand-carved from mottled white nephrite with emerald-green inclusions, that depicts a petite dragon atop a circular coin with an interior rectangular panel. The dragon arches its posterior into the air while turning its gaping mouth around, and the creature's slender tail curls around one side of the coin. Size: 1.375" W x 2.2" H (3.5 cm x 5.6 cm)
