Description:

East Asia, China, Neolithic Period, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE. A round-bodied vessel resting atop a flat base, its body covered in deeply-incised lines which give it an attractive texture. The wide neck of the vessel is slightly corseted and flares upwards to a thick rim with a splayed lip. Chinese Neolithic pottery is often startling, quite different than pottery from other ancient traditions, with fascinating forms and interesting decorative motifs that seem deliberately abstract. Size: 4.65" W x 6.875" H (11.8 cm x 17.5 cm).
