Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. An intriguing child's doll comprised of woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of crimson, fuchsia, wheat, black, white, and espresso. The figure has a tall body formed from loosely bunched plant fibers covered with a pink tunic adorned with brown and yellow stripes. The slender arms hang from narrow shoulders, and a wide neck line supports the large head. The expressive visage is composed of pink, red, and yellow patches, a crooked nose, concentric diamond-shaped eyes, and a wild coiffure that drapes down to the waistline. A charming example from ancient Peru! Size: 5.5" W x 12" H (14 cm x 30.5 cm); 14" H (35.6 cm) on included custom stand.
