Description:

**Previously Listed At 300**

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. Finely carved from a single piece of volcanic stone of reddish hues, a standing female figure holding her hands to her middle - a possible reference to female fertility - facing forward with her expressive visage comprised of coffee-bean shaped eyes, a wide nose, and a gentle smile, her long striated coiffure swept behind her ears and down past her shoulders. A wonderful sculptural rendering of the female form from the ancients of Costa Rica. Size: 3.5" W x 6.25" H (8.9 cm x 15.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Peter Arnovock collection
