Ancient Egypt, Coptic culture, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A trio of finely preserved wooden combs, two with curved ends, the third with a more elaborate decorative program at its center and two rows of teeth. All have very fine teeth as combs were important in the ancient world for controlling lice, nits, and other pests. These would have been used for someone's natural hair, rather than the elaborate wigs favored by Egyptians, which required more complex tools. Size of largest: 2.35" W x 3.25" H (6 cm x 8.3 cm)
