Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, southern Colorado Plateau (Four Corners region), Anasazi (Ancestral Pueblo), ca. 1030 to 1175 CE. A wonderful Wingate Black-on-Red bowl covered entirely by red slip - save for white pigment around the rim - with abstract geometric motifs delineated in black on the exterior. A wondrous series of linear, triangular, zigzagging, and solid black motifs adorn the exterior surfaces, and repeating groups of black frets accentuate the rim; the base is unadorned. An attractive example of fine Wingate stylization. Size: 6.75" W x 4.875" H (17.1 cm x 12.4 cm)
