Description:

Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. A beautiful stamp seal bead, made from a warm red carnelian and pierced through laterally for suspension, bearing an incised glyph. This glyph would have had personal meaning, perhaps derived from Elamite cuneiform, one of the three languages used on the monuments of Achaemenid Persian kings. Size: 0.4" W (1 cm); 1.95" H (5 cm) on included custom stand.
