Near East / Western Asia, Parthian or possibly Achaemenid, ca. late 1st millennium BCE. An elegant Parthian necklace comprised of 20K+ gold beads - including 7 pairs of diamond-shaped gold beads, each pair arranged back to back, and each face impressed with an "X" motif at the center; these alternating with 16 cylindrical gold sheet beads, each one impressed with a striated pattern. Finally, at the center is a lovely teardrop shaped shell pendant bead of coral, red, and white hues. So beautiful - and wearable too! Size: 16" L (40.6 cm); diamond-shaped gold beads measure .75" L x .625" W (1.9 cm x 1.6 cm); shell pendant measures .625" L (1.6 cm); total weight: 16.8 grams; gold quality: 91% equivalent to 20K+

  • Condition: All beads are ancient. Strung in modern times with modern findings. One cylindrical gold sheet bead is cracked in two, but the others are intact. Expected age wear to the gold beads with minute indentations and nicks, but generally in very good condition. Shell bead in excellent condition.
