West Africa, Cameroon, Bamun peoples, ca. mid 20th century CE. A striking wooden stool, carved so that a crouching human figure is beneath the round seat, and completely covered with bright glass beads sewn onto a cloth covering. Beaded art in Bamun culture was reserved for people with high social standing. Size: 13.5" W x 15.7" H (34.3 cm x 39.9 cm)
