Native American, Northwestern United States, Northern California, Pomo people, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand coiled and twined basket made from regional plants - sedge grass, fern root, willow, and/or bracken. A hallmark of Pomo California basketry are the nearly perfectly trimmed rims and the precision of the designs, these were prized pieces that were often gifted during special occasions. This small basket is remarkable for the tight weave that demonstrates the painstaking skill to create this piece. Size: 4.5" Diameter x 2" H (11.4 cm x 5.1 cm)
