Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, Lakota / Dakota (Sioux) culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A lovely hand carved bison (or cow) serving spoon / ladle, decorated with a zoomorphic head inlaid with glass seed bead eyes. Wrapped around the neck are dyed quills, sinew, and cords made from hide and with jingle cones and dyed horsehair tassels. Size: 8.2" L x 3.25" W (20.8 cm x 8.3 cm)
