Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 18th century CE. A lovely carnelian intaglio incised with the image of a man and a woman. The man on the left presented nude while seated as he hands a laurel branch or a serpent to the woman standing on the right, herself dressed in a flowing robe while holding a slender branch in her lowered hand. The intaglio is set within a 46.9% gold ring setting bearing a bifurcated shank of minimalist yet elegant style. Size (intaglio): 0.56" L x 0.42" W x 0.12" H (1.4 cm x 1.1 cm x 0.3 cm); (ring setting): 0.64" L x 0.91" W x 0.86" H (1.6 cm x 2.3 cm x 2.2 cm); gold quality: 46.9% (equivalent to 10K+); weight: 3.0 grams; US ring size: 7.5
