Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 18th century CE. A sumptuous 86.37% gold ring exhibiting lovely luster and a classic form. Inside the form-fitting ovoid bezel is a hand-carved carnelian intaglio featuring the profile bust of a youthful male with cascading locks of curly hair and a flower adorning one shoulder. In front of his gaze is a petite Greek inscription reading "Peigmo", perhaps the name of the artist. Size (intaglio): 0.62" L x 0.44" W x 0.15" H (1.6 cm x 1.1 cm x 0.4 cm); (ring setting): 0.68" L x 0.88" W x 0.94" H (1.7 cm x 2.2 cm x 2.4 cm); gold quality: 86.37% (equivalent to 20K+); weight: 7.3 grams; US ring size: 8
