Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 18th century CE. A beautiful 66.2% gold ring with an ovoid bezel centered between 2 petite pins that enable it to swivel attractively. Set within the ovoid fitting is a hand-carved carnelian intaglio featuring a standing male figure that faces to the right side and holds a horizontally-oriented caduceus staff, perhaps the Greek god of health Apollo.
