Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 16th century CE. A gorgeous gold and silver ring exhibiting a slender shank and an ovoid bezel. Set within the bezel is a form-fitting, hand-carved carnelian intaglio of slender form with a bust of Paris - also known as Alexander - a prince of Troy whose romance with Helen was the spark that set off the infamous Trojan War. Size (intaglio): 0.51" L x 0.41" W x 0.08" H (1.3 cm x 1 cm x 0.2 cm); (ring setting): 0.65" L x 0.87" W x 0.86" H (1.7 cm x 2.2 cm x 2.2 cm); metal quality: 59.1% gold (equivalent to 14K+), 26.1% silver, 14% copper; weight: 2.9 grams; US ring size: 9
