Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 17th century CE. A fabulous 71.3% gold ring of solid construction that displays a hand-carved carnelian intaglio in the center. The intaglio features a right-facing bust of a nude woman, her hair backswept and bound with a twisted fillet, and her breasts delineated beneath her dainty chin. Perhaps representing a Greek goddess, this is an attractive jewelry piece able to accent any outfit.
