Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 17th century CE. An attractive and delicate 42.8% gold ring exhibiting a bifurcated shank with split terminals soldered to the underside of an ovoid bezel. Set inside the bezel is a form-fitting agate cameo with a white-hued, left-facing profile of a dignified woman protruding from the top. She dons elegant finery and flowing vestments as she faces towards the left side of the stone, with one breast exposed where the upper bust line had slipped down. Size (cameo): 0.60" L x 0.46" W x 0.23" H (1.5 cm x 1.2 cm x 0.6 cm); (ring setting): 0.65" L x 0.82" W x 1.01" H (1.7 cm x 2.1 cm x 2.6 cm); gold quality: 42.8% (equivalent to 10K+); weight: 3.1 grams; US ring size: 8.5

  • Condition: Wearable as shown. Slight bending to shank, with light abrasions to ring setting and cameo, otherwise intact and excellent. Nice patina throughout, and great preservation of finer cameo details.
