Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mesoamerican Formative Period, Guerrero State, Mexico, Xochipala culture, ca. 13th to 10th century BCE. A fascinating ceramic figure, from a culture contemporary with the Olmec but with a very different artistic style. This is a standing woman, posed as if about to jump, with her arms out to the side and knees bent, with her powerful thighs emphasized by the artist. She is nude aside from jewelry - thick, rope-like necklace, armbands, and headband. Large double spool earrings hang to her shoulders. Size: 3.25" W x 5.95" H (8.3 cm x 15.1 cm); 6.55" H (16.6 cm) on included custom stand.
